I need to "skirt" insulate a log cabin and need advice?
I have a log cabin which is now our full time residence, it has radiant heat in a gypcrete slab on the floor and has a post foundation, so it is off the ground by 24 inches, I need to seal the cabin to the ground and insulate the floor and the skirting, anyone with experience out there? I am planning to do a foil/foam/foil under the cabin and "cripples" to the ground insulated in between with hardy backer where it meets earth, but I am open to ideas otherwise- thanks
Use treated lumber for the framing, and you can use Hardi plank or Hardi panel for a nicer look.
Make sure you have a way to ventilate the enclosed space you create, really damp crawl spaces (like it will be in the Spring)under cabins cause problems down the road.
